marce + shane

28 September 2013

There are people you meet in life that are the salt of the earth. Their genuine care and concern for others shines through everything they do. This was Marce and Shane from the first moment we met. It was obvious how much their families meant to them and how they were happy to bend to include as many of their loved ones in their special day. I loved writing this ceremony with lots of personal touches, songs from the 90s, poems that bring out the humour in each of us and vows that were honest and heart warming. I was so glad that Marce and Shane were happy to keep me on as their celebrant despite being 32 weeks pregnant at the time - a whole lot of fun, love and laughter.
Shane and Marce have kindly shared thoughts on their wedding day:-

WHAT YOU COULDN’T HAVE GONE WITHOUT
A couple of fantastic friends, family and Heather

WHAT DID YOU VALUE MOST ABOUT HEATHER AS YOUR CELEBRANT?
From our initial phonecall, Heather was committed helping make our wedding ceremony our own. She helped us find readings (and one very elusive song!), guided our vow writing and plan the whole deal right down to where we would stand, keeping in mind the whole time our wish to keep the day as fun and personalised as we could. Any emails or phone calls when we had any queries, concerns or re-drafts were never a problem. Heather’s flexible support made for a worry-free, unique ceremony which she performed with warmth, humour and precision. To have a celebrant who was communicative and creative certainly made our wedding day a joyful, uncomplicated occasion. Thankyou!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLE’S TO BE
Make it how you want it. Don’t build a day trying to please everyone else. It doesn’t have to be stressful!

BEST LAID PLANS – HOW DID YOU MANAGE THE LITTLE HICCUPS (IF ANY)?
We were very lucky, although we had a huge guest list our wedding was “small” and laid back. We avoided the hiccups rather than had any to deal with! Being organised may be our best defence
